COLUMBUS, Ohio—The Greater Columbus Arts Council board of trustees today approved 27 grants totaling $3,123,622 in Operating Support, funds which the Arts Council receives from the city of Columbus through the hotel/motel bed tax.

“We are grateful to the city of Columbus for the funds that enable us to provide this critical support to the arts and cultural organizations that help drive tourism, economic and neighborhood growth in our community,” said Tom Katzenmeyer, president and CEO of the Arts Council. “This is a record amount of funding in this category. Each year we welcome new organizations into Operating Support and we’ve seen these grant applications get stronger. Our organizations are attracting world-class talent, producing exhibitions and productions of outstanding quality, and providing access to life-enriching experiences to all members of our community.”

Under the grants guidelines, nonprofit arts organizations of any budget size that meet the eligibility criteria can qualify for unrestricted Operating Support funding. Applicants must demonstrate exemplary artistic achievement and significant impact on the city’s economy and tourism, as well as fiscal responsibility.
