Columbus, Ohio – The Greater Columbus Arts Council is pleased to announce the promotion of Ruby Classen to Grants & Services manager.

Classen joined GCAC in 2006 and has served as the Grants & Services coordinator since 2007. Classen’s new role will focus on managing and directing the efforts of the Grants & Services department. The main focus of the department will encompass grant-making processes, procedures and guidelines as well as enhancing services and support for individual artists through the Individual Artist Fellowship program. Classen will continue her work with OPPArt: Opportunities for Artists, GCAC’s professional development and education series, enlisting local artists to further enhance the program’s offerings.

“Ruby has proven to be a valuable member of our grants administration team, so we were pleased to have someone already at GCAC to fill this important position,” said Interim President Milt Baughman. “Her years of experience as coordinator of Grants & Services will be a great benefit to the organization.”

A strong supporter of the central Ohio arts community, Classen’s career history includes teaching dance, serving as president of the Little Theater Off Broadway and volunteer coordinator for Emerald City Players. Classen serves as a representative and regional coordinator to the Ohio Community Theater Association. She also provides GCAC with national exposure as a representative of the Emerging Leaders Council of the Americans for the Arts.
